Child influenza vaccination cost subsidy

From October 1, 2022, Setagaya Ward will subsidize a portion of the flu vaccination costs for children. Vaccination can be expected to prevent aggravation by providing the necessary immunity. Please help your child's health with a correct understanding of vaccination.

Subsidized person

Children aged 1 to 15 years (until junior high school age) on the day of vaccination (children born between April 2, 2007 and December 31, 2021) who live in Setagaya Ward
*Children under 1 year old will be eligible for the subsidy after they turn 1 year old. Please contact us for more information.
*Children born on or after January 1, 2022 cannot receive subsidies even if they are 1 year old on the day of vaccination.

Number of subsidies

Up to 2 doses for children aged 1 to 12 on the day of vaccination . Children aged 13 to 15 (up to junior high school age) can be vaccinated up to 1 time .
*The number of subsidies is based on the age at the time of the first vaccination.
(For example, a person who received the first vaccination at the age of 12 can receive a subsidy for the cost of the second vaccination even at the age of 13.)

Subsidy amount

We will subsidize 1,000 yen per vaccination.
(Vaccination costs charged by medical institutions will be reduced by 1,000 yen per dose.)

October 1, 2020 (Saturday) to January 31, 2023 (Tuesday)

Reception method

If you would like to apply for assistance, please follow the steps below.
1. At a designated medical institution in Setagaya Ward, please show your address and date of birth at the reception.
(e.g. infant medical certificate, child medical certificate, health insurance card, etc.)
2. Please fill in the necessary information on the subsidy ticket provided at the designated medical institution in Setagaya Ward and submit it to the medical institution.

If your child cannot be vaccinated at a designated medical institution for any of the following reasons, please contact the Setagaya Public Health Center Infectious Disease Control Division (Telephone: 03-5432-2437) in advance. We will send you a subsidy application form.

Vaccination interval with the new corona vaccine

Simultaneous vaccination with new corona vaccine and influenza vaccine is possible.
At the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare council on July 22, 2022, it was reported that simultaneous vaccination with the new coronavirus and influenza vaccine was not inferior to vaccination alone in terms of efficacy and safety. Simultaneous inoculation became possible based on a certain thing.
However, please be sure to consult your doctor before actually administering the vaccine.
