What is a gatekeeper
A person who notices a person who is suffering, talks to them, listens to them, connects them to the necessary support, and watches over them. No special qualifications are required.
People with worries may find themselves in situations such as "I can't tell people about my worries," "I don't know where to go for advice," or "I don't know how to solve them." It's important to be there for those in distress, to prevent isolation, and to have people around them help as gatekeepers.
If the people around you look gloomy or don't feel well, you want to help them, but you don't know what to say. I talked about my troubles, but how was my voice? Have you ever thought about it?
Here are some ways to deal with it.
notice and call
If someone seems to be acting differently than usual, it may be an SOS sign when they are in trouble. A person in trouble is waiting for someone to notice.
If you notice that someone you care about is suffering, be brave and talk to them. "What's wrong? It looks like you're having a hard time..." "I haven't been feeling well lately, are you okay?"
listening attentively
When listening, respect what the other person is experiencing, thinking, and feeling, and take it seriously without denying or distracting. You can give a sense of security by being close to the other person's feelings, avoiding blaming the person or encouraging them easily.
coverall
Listening to people's concerns can sometimes make them feel more positive, but in order to lead them to real solutions, they need the power of specialized institutions. Let's provide information such as related consultation desks.
After obtaining the understanding and consent of the other party, contacting the partner directly as much as possible and setting the consultation place, date and time specifically, you can connect more reliably.
watch over
Even after collaborating with the consultation destination, let them know that you will consult them if necessary. Having someone who listens to you and thinks with you is the most reassuring and reassuring thing.
