About therapeutic drugs (oral drugs, neutralizing antibody drugs)

What are therapeutic drugs?

Currently, the new coronavirus therapeutic drugs that have been approved by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare include "anti-inflammatory drugs," "antiviral drugs," and "neutralizing antibody drugs."
Of these, "antiviral drugs" and "neutralizing antibody drugs" are included in the administration targets for mild cases in order to prevent aggravation.

Oral medicine (oral medicine)

The oral medicines for new corona infections that have received special approval from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare include “Lagebrio (molnupiravir)” and “Pakilovidpack (nirmatrelvir/ritonavir)”. Both are antiviral drugs and have the effect of inhibiting the growth of the new coronavirus that has invaded cells.
Patients who are deemed necessary by a doctor are those who have serious heart disease, chronic respiratory disease, obesity, or other risk factors for the aggravation of COVID-19. Efficacy has not been established in severely ill patients or in patients treated after 6 days of onset.
In order to receive a prescription, it is necessary to visit a medical institution. In addition, if you are pregnant, may become pregnant, are breast-feeding, or are taking other medicines, you may need to be careful when taking this medicine with your doctor. Please consult.

Treatment with neutralizing antibody drugs

It is a drip treatment for the purpose of preventing aggravation for patients with mild symptoms. This medicine is administered by drip infusion, and the progress is observed for a certain period of time to make sure that no side effects occur after administration.
For those who are eligible, we will comprehensively judge the patient's situation, including the following three points, and decide whether or not to treat.
・Risk factors leading to aggravation (diabetes, obesity, hypertension, dialysis, etc.)
・Mild symptoms that do not require oxygen administration ・Within 7 days from the date of onset

Neutralizing antibody drugs that have received special approval from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare are Lonaprip (casilibimab and imdevimab) and Zebudi (sotrovimab). Antibodies block the virus from attaching to the surface of cells. Lonapreve is called antibody cocktail therapy because it uses a mixture of two types of alternations that bind to the new coronavirus.
