Support for handicapped children

There is a day care service for children with disabilities (day care support for children with disabilities).

Types and Contents of Support for Children with Disabilities

Child development support

We provide guidance on basic movements in daily life, impart knowledge and skills, and provide adaptation training for group living.

Medical child development support

We provide child development support and treatment for children with disabilities in upper limbs, lower limbs, or trunk functions.

Preschool children with physical disabilities (upper, lower, or trunk dysfunction) who are recognized as needing functional training, such as physical therapy, or support under medical supervision.

After school day service

After classes or on holidays, we provide support such as training necessary to improve life skills and promotion of interaction with society.

Children who are enrolled in a school (excluding kindergartens and universities) specified in Article 1 of the School Education Act and who have received support after classes or on holidays

Support for visits to nurseries, etc.

We visit daycare centers and other places to provide professional support for adapting to group life with other children.

Home visit type child development support

For children with severe disabilities who find it extremely difficult to go out to receive daycare support for children with disabilities, we will visit their homes and provide development support.

Application procedure

Please contact us in advance by phone, etc., and bring the necessary documents to the welfare office counter in charge. After the application, payment will be decided through the procedure shown in [Illustration].

What you need when applying

If you fall under any of the following, please bring it with you to the counter during the application procedure.

For notebook holders

Physical disability certificate, love certificate, mental disability certificate

Those who do not have the above notebook

A medical certificate or written opinion from a doctor, etc.

Mechanism of User Fee

About free use of preschool facilities for children with disabilities

From October 2019, the service usage fee for classes for 3 to 5 year olds is free.
(After-school day services are not eligible for free services because they are intended for children after school.)

  • Classes for 0 to 2 year olds are already free for tax-exempt households.
  • 3-year-olds are eligible for free tuition after they enter the 3-year-old class. (not from 3 years old)
  • For children on deferred school enrollment, the free period will be extended until they enter school.
  • Parents will be responsible for actual expenses such as school lunches and transportation expenses.
  • If you use both kindergartens and nursery schools, both are eligible for free.
  • There is no need for new applications or procedures for exemption.
