This is a dedicated homepage for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Patients who are not subject to notification of outbreaks and who have been diagnosed positive at a medical institution or who have become positive in self-tests without visiting a medical institution can register.

If you have been infected with the new coronavirus or have been in contact with an infected person, please cooperate with the following points.

While the Omicron strain is the mainstream, we have not taken measures such as active epidemiological surveys, including identifying close contacts of infected people, based on the characteristics of the Omicron strain. We will give priority to measures for the elderly, facilities for the disabled, medical institutions, etc., so we ask for your understanding and cooperation.

Priorities for the time being

  1. Activities to provide medical care to patients at risk of aggravation, such as hospital adjustment
  2. Measures for groups that are likely to become seriously ill, such as facilities for the elderly, facilities for the disabled, and medical institutions

Request to person diagnosed with new coronavirus infectious disease

We contact person targeted for outbreak report by the next day from day when there was report from medical institution. In addition, telephone contact is limited to those at risk of aggravation, such as the elderly. Other people will be contacted by short message service (SMS), so be sure to check the content (see the bottom of the page).
If more than two days have passed since your diagnosis and you have not heard from the public health center by phone or short message service, please contact the Meguro-ku Novel Coronavirus Call Center.

If you are not eligible to report the outbreak to the public health center, please register at the "Tokyo Positive Person Registration Center" above.

Precautions to be followed during home care

  1. Please do not go out and recuperate at home. However, if the person with symptoms has passed 24 hours after the symptoms have subsided (Note), or if there are no symptoms, limit the time spent going out or interacting with people to a short period of time, do not use public transportation when traveling, and go out. It is possible to go out to the minimum necessary extent, such as shopping for groceries, on the premise that you will take voluntary infection prevention actions such as wearing a mask when you are in contact with people.
Note: “Symptoms resolved” means that the fever has subsided without the use of antipyretics and the respiratory symptoms tend to improve.
  2. If you suspect that your illness is becoming more severe (such as difficulty breathing or severe fatigue), call 119 or call the number below.

Period of medical treatment and cancellation of medical treatment

Period of medical treatment and criteria for cancellation

1.Symptoms

If 7 days have passed since the day of onset (0 days) and 24 hours have passed since the symptoms resolved (Note), treatment can be canceled from the 8th day. If the symptoms have not improved on the 7th day, the medical treatment can be canceled after 24 hours have passed since the symptoms improved.
However, since the risk of infection remains until 10 days have passed, there is a high risk of infection, such as checking the health condition by temperature measurement, contacting high-risk people such as the elderly, unnecessary and non-urgent visits to high-risk facilities, etc. Please take voluntary infection control measures such as avoiding the use of places and eating out, and wearing a mask.
For those who are hospitalized (including those living in facilities for the elderly), if 10 days have passed from the date of onset of symptoms and 72 hours have passed since the symptoms subsided, from the 11th day Treatment can be canceled.

Note: “Symptoms resolved” means that the fever has subsided without the use of antipyretics and the respiratory symptoms tend to improve.

Diagram showing criteria for medical treatment cancellation

2.Those who have no symptoms

If 7 days have passed since the sample collection date (examination date) is day 0, medical treatment can be canceled from the 8th day. (If the test with the test kit on the 5th day is confirmed to be negative, the medical treatment can be canceled on the 6th day. If the test on the 6th day is confirmed to be negative, it will be canceled on the same day (confirmation of test results). However, since the risk of infection remains until 7 days have passed, it is possible to check the health condition by temperature measurement, contact with high-risk people such as the elderly, and avoid going to high-risk facilities. Please take voluntary infection control measures, such as avoiding non-essential visits, using places with a high risk of infection, eating together, etc., and wearing a mask.)

Requests to those who have been in contact with an infected person

To those who have been in contact with an infected person

Among those who have been in contact with an infected person during the infectious period (from 2 days before the onset of symptoms to during the recuperation period), those who fall under the following range are considered "close contacts". (From the National Institute of Infectious Diseases "Proactive Epidemiological Survey Implementation Guidelines")

  1. People who have been in contact for more than 15 minutes without the necessary infection prevention measures (masks, etc.) at a distance where they can touch with their hands (1 meter as a guideline) comprehensively judge the infectivity)
  2. People who live with an infected person or who have been in contact with an infected person for a long time (in a car, on an airplane, etc.)
  3. A person who examined, nursed, or cared for an infected person without proper infection protection
  4. Persons who are likely to have come into direct contact with contaminants such as respiratory secretions or bodily fluids of an infected person

Waiting period for close contacts

Please refrain from going out for 5 days and observe your health for 7 days, starting from the day after the infected person's onset of symptoms (the day the specimen was collected if there are no symptoms) or the day after infection control was taken, whichever is later . .
If you are not living with an infected person, please refrain from going out for 5 days from the day after your last contact with an infected person and monitor your health for 7 days.

However, if a negative result can be confirmed by testing using an antigen qualitative test kit approved by the pharmaceutical affairs on the 2nd and 3rd days of the waiting period (testing at own expense), the waiting period can be canceled from the 3rd day. (Infants are not expected to use an antigen qualitative test kit, so they will be on standby for 5 days. In addition, some elementary and junior high schools may not allow children to come to kindergarten or school from the 3rd day, and may require a 5-day waiting period. We may ask you to refrain from going out and observe your health for 7 days, so please contact the relevant departments for details.)

In this case, there is no need to individually confirm the cancellation decision with the public health center.

In addition, contact with people who are at high risk of becoming seriously ill if infected, such as the elderly and those with underlying diseases (hereinafter referred to as "high-risk people"), and elderly people and people with disabilities who are hospitalized with many high-risk people Please avoid unnecessary and non-urgent visits to children's facilities and medical institutions, use places with a high risk of infection, avoid eating together, and wear a mask to prevent infection.
In addition, if it turns out that the infected person was infected with a strain other than the Omicron strain, the waiting period will be 14 days.

Precautions to be observed during the waiting period

  • Please reduce contact with others and stay at home. Please refrain from going out unnecessarily. Please refrain from commuting to work or school. Also, don't use public transportation.
  • Please disinfect your surroundings. For more information on disinfection, please see "Disinfection for new coronavirus infections" .
  • Please monitor your health every day, and if you have symptoms such as fever, cough, or malaise, please consult a medical institution or contact the Tokyo Fever Consultation Center (phone: 03-5320-4592). In addition, when visiting a medical institution, be sure to call in advance and wear a mask at the designated time. Since the treatment is covered by insurance, you will be responsible for paying the first visit fee at the counter.

If you wish to have a PCR test, please consult with your family doctor. Also, please call the medical institution in advance to confirm that you are a close contact person and check if you can be tested. If you can take the test, please come to the hospital wearing a mask at the time specified by the medical institution. Since the treatment is covered by insurance, you will be responsible for paying the first visit fee at the counter.
