Frequently Asked Questions

Q: In which country and what kind of mitigation measures are permitted for the certificate to be issued (both overseas and domestic)?

Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is collecting information on vaccination certificates and restrictions relaxation measures of each country, in order to accept vaccination certificates issued by Japan and to have them relax quarantine measures. Specific mitigation measures by possessing a certificate issued by Japan will ultimately depend on the judgment of each country, but generally speaking, shortening or exemption of the quarantine period at the time of entry and PCR before departure Possible measures include submission of a negative test certificate and exemption from PCR testing upon arrival. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide information on the specific countries/regions where it can be used and the mitigation measures as appropriate on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Q: Do certificates have an expiration date? How long does the effect of vaccination last?

The certificate of vaccination does not have an expiry date, as it only proves the fact that the person who received the vaccination has been vaccinated. It is primarily up to the party receiving the presentation of the certificate (counterpart country, etc.) to decide how to evaluate and utilize the information.
Regarding the efficacy of vaccination, clinical trials have shown that it is effective in preventing the onset and severity of disease. I understand that it is not.

Q: Can you issue a certificate for someone who has only been vaccinated once?

In order to output certificates for people who received their first, second, and third vaccinations in different municipalities, it is possible to issue vaccination certificates even for those who have only one vaccination record registered. .
