If the infected person has no symptoms, the date on which the specimen was collected will be considered the date of onset.

2. About the waiting period for close contacts other than family members living together

The incubation period for the new coronavirus is five days from the day after the last contact with an infected person. This period will be a health observation period, and we ask that you stay at home to prevent the spread of infection to those around you.
However, until the 7 days have passed, please check your own health condition, such as temperature measurement.

  • Please refrain from unnecessary and non-urgent contact with the elderly and high-risk people with underlying diseases.
  • Take your temperature every day and monitor your physical condition carefully.

Note: At the end of the health observation period, there will be no final confirmation phone call or PCR test from the public health center.

If the last date of contact with a positive patient is February 1st, the end date of health observation will be February 6th .
After February 7th, there will be no restrictions, so you can go to work, etc.

On the 2nd and 3rd days, the patient will be tested using an antigen qualitative test kit at his/her own expense. If a negative result is confirmed, the waiting period can be canceled after the test results are confirmed on the 3rd day. In addition, in this case, it is not necessary to individually confirm the decision to cancel with the public health center.

3.About PCR test

If you have been in close contact with someone, please stay home for 5 days. For those who are considered to be at high risk of developing the disease, such as family members living together, we are guiding PCR tests. If you are a close contact person who is not a family member living together and would like to have a PCR test, Link to external site Please consult with the medical treatment/examination medical institution (Tokyo Bureau of Social Welfare and Public Health) (link to an external site) .

  • Note 1: The Chuo Ward PCR Test Center can take the test if the public health center determines that it is necessary.
  • Note 2: Even if the PCR test is negative, the health observation period will not change. In addition, we do not issue a negative certificate. This is because it is possible to get a negative result even if you are infected, or to become positive after the test.
