About the sequelae of the new coronavirus

Anyone can get a new coronavirus infection. Symptoms of infection vary from person to person. Similarly, regardless of the presence or absence of symptoms at the time of infection, various symptoms may be seen as sequelae even after recovery from infection.
The cause of the sequelae is not clear. For this reason, aftereffects may take a long time to treat, and symptoms may be seen even one year after infection. The understanding of those around you, such as your family and workplace, is also important.

About sequelae

It is known that after contracting the new coronavirus infection, even after treatment and recuperation, there are so-called aftereffects, such as prolonged symptoms such as fatigue, impaired taste and smell, headache, and shortness of breath.
Various studies have been conducted on the actual symptoms of aftereffects, but there are still many unclear points, and the causal relationship between each symptom and the new coronavirus infection is unknown.

The main symptoms that can be seen as sequelae are

・Fatigue ・Malaise ・Arthralgia ・Muscle pain ・Cough ・Sputum ・Shortness of breath ・Chest pain ・Hair loss ・Memory disorder ・Decreased concentration ・Headache ・Depression ・Smell disorder ・Taste disorder ・Palpitation ・Diarrhea ・Stomach pain ・Sleep disorder ・Muscle strength decrease

And so on. (From "New Coronavirus Infectious Disease Medical Treatment Guide (separate volume) Management of symptoms after illness (Version 2.0)") (external site) Open in new window.
