Those eligible for premium reduction
When an insured person covered by health insurance at work reaches the age of 75 and transitions to the Medical Care System for the Advanced Elderly, their dependents will no longer be eligible for health insurance. If your dependent is under the age of 75, you must apply for National Health Insurance. If you meet all of the following requirements, your insurance premium will be reduced upon application.
- Be 65 years old or older on the day you qualify for National Health Insurance.
- Dependents also lose eligibility for social insurance, etc. on the same day due to the transition of the insured person of the employee insurance (social insurance, mutual aid association, etc.) to the medical care system for the elderly aged 75 or over.
(Note: Those who were members of the National Health Insurance Association are not eligible.)
Details of premium reduction
- From the date of acquiring National Health Insurance qualification to the month before the month of reaching the age of 75, the income-based amount is exempted.
- The per capita rate will be halved from the date of qualification for National Health Insurance to the month when two years have passed since the month when the date of qualification acquisition belongs.
(Note: Combined with the statutory reduction, the price will be reduced to half. Households that fall under the 70% or 50% reduction stipulated by law are not eligible.)
