Dementia voice training

What is dementia voice training?

In order for people with dementia to continue living in a familiar community, it is important to watch over them in the community.
Due to dementia, it may happen that "I lost my home" or "I got lost while walking".
Before they go far away, or in order to quickly find and watch over people who have wandered off from afar, local people actually participate in training to greet them.
In Itabashi Ward, we have started "dementia voice training" in the community since 2016.

Purpose

  • Support and watch over people with dementia and their families Raise awareness in the community and promote understanding of dementia
  • Strengthening regional cooperation that allows people to talk to each other and watch over
  • Dementia supporters can participate as one of the activities in the community
  • Aiming to create a community where people with dementia can live with peace of mind

Method

Training points are set up in local shops and residential areas, and people with dementia stand by in each scenario.
Participants go around training points, talk to each other, and consider and reflect on their responses in groups.
