News of 2022 pneumococcal vaccination for elderly people

Pneumococcal vaccination for the elderly is given only to those who wish to be among the following subjects, and it is not obligatory or compulsory.
Those who have previously received a pneumococcal vaccine for the elderly (23-valent pneumococcal capsular polysaccharide vaccine) are not eligible.

Target audience

  1. Those who will reach the following ages by March 31, 2023 (those whose dates of birth are listed in the table below) *Note: You can use the vaccination slip even before your birthday.
  2. Those aged between 60 and 65 on the day of vaccination who have heart, kidney, or respiratory dysfunction, or immune dysfunction due to human immunodeficiency virus (physical disability certificate level 1) *Note: During the implementation period Those who turn 60 can be vaccinated from the day before their 60th birthday (e.g., those born on December 2nd can be vaccinated from December 1st).

1,500 yen *Note: Free for households on public assistance and households receiving support for Japanese remaining in China.

Inoculation method

Please bring the vaccination screening slip to a cooperating medical institution in Tokyo's 23 wards and receive the vaccination.

*Note 1 Please bring your health insurance card, etc. (address, name, and age can be confirmed).

About inoculation preliminary examination vote

For those who are eligible for routine immunizations, we will send out vaccination screening votes on March 25, 2022.
If you are eligible for routine immunization and do not have a vaccination slip, please contact the Arakawa Ward Public Health Center.

When administering different types of vaccines

From October 1, 2020, the vaccination interval when inoculating different types of vaccines has been changed.
Therefore, there is no restriction on the interval between vaccinations after receiving the pneumococcal vaccine for the elderly.

* Note 1 Until September 30, 2020, it was necessary to wait at least 6 days before administering other vaccines after receiving the pneumococcal vaccine for the elderly.
* Note 2: There is no change in simultaneous vaccinations where two or more vaccinations are administered at the same time.
