About the Minato City Specified Infertility Treatment Expenses (Advanced Medical Care, Free Medical Treatment) Subsidy System

With the start of insurance coverage for infertility treatment from April 2022, the conventional Minato Ward specific infertility treatment cost subsidy system (subsidizing part of the cost not covered by medical insurance for in vitro fertilization and microinsemination) Regarding, except for the treatment subject to transitional measures, it has been completed.

However, even after the start of insurance coverage, there are some treatments that are not covered by insurance. 1. We will implement the Minato Ward specific infertility treatment expenses (advanced medical care, free medical treatment) subsidy system to subsidize the cost of free medical treatment*2) .

*1 Advanced medical treatment is a treatment that can be performed in combination with insurance medical treatment, recognized by the Advanced Medical Council established by the government as an advanced medical technology not covered by insurance.

*2 Free medical care refers to medical treatment for which the patient is fully responsible for the entire medical treatment due to receiving medical treatment, etc. under deliberation by the Advanced Medical Care Council.

Subsidized person

Those who meet all of the following requirements

(1) The couple must be married from the start date of treatment to the date of application. *1

(2) The age of the wife on the first day of treatment must be less than 43 years old.

(3) Both or one of the spouses must have a continuous address in Minato Ward from the start date of treatment to the date of application. *2

④ In principle, if you are eligible for a subsidy for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Specified Infertility Treatment Expenses (advanced medical care) subsidy project for advanced medical care, you must have received the grant decision.

(5) Not receiving similar subsidies from other municipalities for the same specified infertility treatment.

*1 De facto marital relationships are also covered.

*2 If only one of the spouses has an address in Minato Ward at the time of application, the requirement is that the income of the spouse having an address in Minato Ward exceeds the income of the other spouse.

* Even if the number of subsidies received is less than the upper limit, treatment started when the wife is 43 years old or older is not covered.

* Both advanced medical care and free medical care are added to the number of subsidies.

* If you give birth after receiving the subsidy, or if you have a stillbirth after the 12th week of pregnancy, you can reset the number of times you have received the subsidy.

From January 1, 2023

Effective date

Treatments started on or after April 1, 2022 are eligible.

* As an exception, those who have completed treatment in 2022 and have moved out after the treatment completion date are eligible. Please pay close attention to the application deadline.

* If you move out after July 1, 2022, you will be eligible. Please note that this exception does not apply to treatments that ended after 2023 .

Application deadline

Until the last day of the fiscal year in which the day when one treatment ended (postmark valid)

* For treatments completed between January and March, applications can be submitted until June 30 of the same year.

* As an exception , the application deadline will be extended to June 30, 2023 for treatments that were completed by December 31, 2022.

* For advanced medical care, an application to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is required together with an application from Minato City. For information on how to apply to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, please contact the Tokyo Metropolitan Government directly. There is a deadline for the application, so please be careful when preparing the necessary documents. If you do not receive the approval decision notification for the specific infertility treatment expenses subsidy from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government by the application deadline, please be sure to attach a memo to that effect. It is possible to accept even if the documents are not complete. (Please note that we cannot accept applications after the deadline for any reason.)
