Colorectal cancer screening aims to reduce the number of deaths from colorectal cancer and to reduce the incidence of colorectal cancer by detecting precancerous lesions.
* A precancerous lesion is a cell tissue that has changed in a way that makes cancer more likely than normal. If detected at this stage, it can be treated before it becomes cancer.
Target audience is over 40 years old . Approximately one month or more before the month of birth, the city will mail a "Notice of Cancer Screening" to eligible persons. Please see the cancer screening information page for information on how to apply.
In addition, if you receive a "required detailed examination" in the medical examination, be sure to undergo a detailed examination.
What is colorectal cancer?
Colon cancer screening once a year
It is a cancer that develops in the innermost mucous membrane of the large intestine. There are those that develop from benign polyps that become cancerous as they grow, and those that develop from the direct transformation of normal cells in the mucosa into cancer cells. In Japanese, 70% occur in the sigmoid colon and rectum.
Early colorectal cancer is often asymptomatic.
As the cancer progresses and grows, symptoms such as bloody stools, constipation, abdominal pain with diarrhea, thin stools, and weight loss appear.
If you have any of these symptoms, don't wait for a check-up and seek medical attention.
Inspection overview
Using a special kit, the surface of the stool for two days is taken, and the stool is checked for blood that cannot be seen with the naked eye. By examining for two days, the detection rate of cancer will be higher.
How to collect stool
Be sure to read the correct way to take a stool (instructions included in the test kit) before taking a stool sample.
Submission method
Please collect 2 days' worth of stool from 4 days before the examination date (submission date) to the morning of the examination date .
Please bring it on the day of each cancer screening. We accept person only for colorectal cancer examination from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. of open agency day.
Notes
- Be sure to take two days' worth of stools and bring them together. (One bottle cannot be tested, and please do not take two doses on the same day.)
- Please note that 5 days after the first stool collection date, the stool will deteriorate and cannot be tested.
- People with bleeding hemorrhoids or menstruating are not suitable for this test. Please go after the bleeding stops.
- Please store the test kit after stool collection in a cool and dark place until it is submitted.
Those who are not suitable for colorectal cancer screening
- Those who are currently undergoing treatment or follow-up for intestinal disease
- Those who are menstruating (Please wait 2-3 days after menstruation before collecting stool)
- Those with symptoms of hemorrhoids
If a detailed inspection is required
The city will issue a referral letter for a detailed examination. (Introduction letter is free)
Even if you check your stool for two days and get a positive reaction for only one day, be sure to undergo a thorough examination.
Even if you have polyps in your colon, it doesn't mean that you will bleed every time. Please undergo a detailed examination without self-judgment.
Types of detailed examinations for colorectal cancer screening
Full colonoscopy
This is an examination in which an endoscopic camera is inserted through the anus and observed. In principle, a detailed examination is performed by this method, but if it is difficult to implement, a combination of sigmoid colonoscopy and enema X-ray examination is performed.
