[Requirements for childcare fee reduction]
(1) During the period when Shinjuku City is requesting refraining from going to kindergarten, in order to prevent infection, if you miss the day you normally attend kindergarten.
  • The childcare fee will be calculated on a daily basis according to the number of days off.
  • Even if you are absent to prevent infection, you must meet the certification requirements for the need for childcare.
(2) When the park is temporarily closed due to an outbreak of an infectious disease
(3) If you were unable to use the facility because you were instructed not to come to the nursery school by a doctor or public health center due to infection, suspected infection, identification of close contacts, etc.
  • The childcare fee will be calculated on a daily basis according to the number of days during which the child was not available.
  • “Days during which you were not able to use” refers to the number of days during which you were absent after receiving instructions from your doctor or public health center not to come to kindergarten on “days when you would normally attend kindergarten.”
[Daily calculation formula for childcare fees]
Monthly childcare fee × ( Open days - Meets the requirements for reduction days off ) ÷ twenty five

* “Open days” is the number of days the park is open, excluding the period when the park is temporarily closed.
(When the opening days exceed 25 days, it will be calculated as "25 days".)
* If you take a full day off in the month, the total amount of the monthly fee will be reduced.

[Procedures for reducing childcare fees]
If the [requirements for childcare fee reduction] are met, the nursery school will report the number of days off that meet the requirements to the nursery school division.
Based on the report from the kindergarten, the nursery school division will calculate the childcare fee on a daily basis.
The childcare fees to be refunded will be transferred to the designated bank account after about three months.
From July 2020 onwards, there is no need to submit a written confirmation of the reduction from the guardian.

Reduction of childcare fees between March 2, 2020 and June 30, 2020

If your child refrains from coming to kindergarten to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection and cooperates with childcare at home, the basic childcare fee will be reduced according to the number of days the child is absent. Please submit the following documents to the school.

  • From July onwards, there is no need for the guardian to submit a written confirmation of the reduction to the kindergarten.

Extended childcare fee [Shinjuku Ward nursery school, nursery room (3-5 years old)]

*Those who have received approval to use extended childcare on a monthly basis at public kindergartens do not need to apply for a reduction in extended childcare fees after May.
* Based on the report from the kindergarten, we will calculate and inform you of the extended childcare fee on a daily basis.
*Please contact each school directly regarding the handling of extended childcare fees at private schools.
